Did you catch our October Demo Night?
Here’s a juicy insight into our discussions with our Canopy coaches, some experienced business owners and 4 ambitious start-ups as our October guests.
We also got the opportunity to hear from Ralph from the FSE Group in a reverse pitch. He has helped pump a total of 70 million into the Cornish economy through investment funds and is looking for new businesses in their early growth stages.
With Stewart and Pedro as our hosts, and Ori, Jana and Tomas as our question panel, let’s meet the new businesses:
Thomas | Fabulous Lion Club NFT
Instead of NFTs being seen as a punchline in 2022, Thomas is changing the NFT landscape by helping them be used and understood in the learning and educational sectors.
Thomas wants to engage kids in schools by giving them and their families support from beginner to advanced levels. Children can create their own NFTs or buy ones to upload and become part of a weekly curated storyline. There are 3,500 characters to choose from and can be likened to the fun of collecting Pokémon cards.
Henry and Kate | Patch
Patch is a well-being app that encourages people to get involved in nature.
The app opens directly to a ‘Daily Challenge’ to get you outside as quickly as possible.
There are other challenges like ‘Stop and Spot’ too that are all designed to be completed in under 10 minutes. Once you have taken your picture of nature for your challenge, you can save it to your journal or share it in the community feed.
James and Ian | Woofkii
James and Ian are tackling the stressful issue of planning a trip with dogs-in-tow.
Woofkii is a platform that provides detailed information on whether places across Cornwall are dog-friendly, as well as further information that is not easily found on sites like Trip Advisor or Booking.com. Woofkii has shortened the average searching time from 90 secs to 3 secs!
They are confident that their short 15 secs ‘ambience’ videos and the reviews from other dog owners will help them enter the Metaverse.
May | Beta100
May is helping people move from side hustle to start-up.
She discussed how challenging it is for new businesses and investors to find each other as they need the same time and effort from both sides.
To make sure both parties are rewarded, May sets up ‘chemistry calls’ to see if people are a fit. In only 2 weeks she has already had: 131 early adopters, 40 people onboard and 7 new projects!
Demo Night is a great place to meet new people, pitch your start-up and hear stories from some incredible founders and businesses in their experienced and embryo stages.
